Thought Behind Story:-

As the children grow up, they become inquisitive. They begin to ask many questions. They want to know why and how certain things happen. Sometimes parents take questioning their children as an affront. Then try to discourage it. They want the children to accept as true whatever they have said to them (children). Is such an attitude desirable? This story poses this very question.

जैसे-जैसे बच्चे बड़े होते हैं, वे जिज्ञासु होते जाते हैं। वे कई सवाल पूछने लगते हैं। वे जानना चाहते हैं कि कुछ चीजें क्यों और कैसे होती हैं। कभी-कभी माता-पिता अपने बच्चों से सवाल करना अपमान के रूप में लेते हैं। फिर इसे हतोत्साहित करने का प्रयास करें। वे चाहते हैं कि बच्चों ने उनसे (बच्चों) जो कुछ भी कहा है, उसे सच मान लें। क्या ऐसा रवैया वांछनीय है? यह कहानी यही सवाल खड़ा करती है।

Recapitulation (Highlights):-

Jo is a small girl and Jack is her father. Jack tells stories to his daughter during the evening and on Sunday naps. Jack always creates stories of his own which have an old Owl, a Wizard, and an animal always named Roger as their main characters. Jack tells the story of Roger. This time Jo wants to listen to a story about a Skunk.

Jack tells her the story of a baby Skunk, who smelt very bad. No animal would play with that Skunk due to his foul smell. He felt very bad and isolated. The Skunk went to an Owl and the Owl sent him to a Wizard. He told the Wizard that he wanted to smell like roses. The Wizard changed his bad smell into a sweet fragrance of roses. Skunk came back and played with other animals. Now other animals gathered around him because he smelled so good and Roger felt very happy.

जैक उसे एक बच्चे स्कंक की कहानी सुनाता है, जिसे बहुत बुरी गंध आती थी। उसकी दुर्गंध के कारण कोई भी जानवर उस स्कंक के साथ नहीं खेलता था। वह बहुत बुरा और अलग-थलग महसूस कर रहा था। बदमाश एक उल्लू के पास गया और उल्लू ने उसे एक जादूगर के पास भेज दिया। उसने जादूगर से कहा कि वह गुलाब की तरह महकना चाहता है। जादूगर ने अपनी दुर्गंध को गुलाब की मीठी सुगंध में बदल दिया। स्कंक वापस आया और अन्य जानवरों के साथ खेलने लगा। अब अन्य जानवर उसके चारों ओर इकट्ठे हो गए क्योंकि उसे बहुत अच्छी गंध आ रही थी और रोजर को बहुत खुशी हुई।

When Roger went back home his Mommy got angry. She believed that Roger should smell the way a little Skunk should have. Roger’s Mommy took an umbrella and went back to the Wizard with Roger Skunk. She hit that Wizard right over his head. She punished the Wizard for giving Roger a pleasant smell. She asked him to turn Roger normal.
The Wizard said, ‘OK’, and Roger smelled very bad again.

जब रोजर घर वापस गया तो उसकी माँ को गुस्सा आ गया। उनका मानना ​​था कि रोजर को उसी तरह से सूंघना चाहिए जैसे थोड़ा स्कंक को होना चाहिए। रोजर की माँ ने एक छाता लिया और रोजर स्कंक के साथ जादूगर के पास वापस चली गई। उसने उस जादूगर को उसके सिर पर मारा। उसने रोजर को सुखद गंध देने के लिए जादूगर को दंडित किया। उसने उसे रोजर को सामान्य करने के लिए कहा।

The end of the story is not acceptable to Jo. She is not happy with it. She wants the Wizard to hit on the mother Skunk’s head. She really feels annoyed with Mother Skunk. She has started raising moral questions, which baffle her father. She tries to insist on her own points. She does not want to accept what her father tells her about Mother Skunk’s thinking. She calls her a stupid mother.
This story ends by showing Jack feeling toward his wife. The Moral questions raised by his daughter have made him shy.

कहानी का अंत जो को स्वीकार्य नहीं है। वह इससे खुश नहीं है। वह चाहती है कि जादूगर मां स्कंक के सिर पर वार करे। वह वास्तव में मदर स्कंक से नाराज़ महसूस करती है। उसने नैतिक सवाल उठाना शुरू कर दिया है, जो उसके पिता को चकित करता है। वह अपनी बात पर जोर देने की कोशिश करती है। मदर स्कंक की सोच के बारे में उसके पिता जो कहते हैं, उसे वह स्वीकार नहीं करना चाहती। वह उसे एक बेवकूफ माँ कहती है।
