The Narrator (Jerome) Boasts of Being the Master of Packing

The narrator was going on a trip with his friends, George and Harris. He told them that he would do the packing. They accepted his offer and relaxed while he packed the bag.

The narrator’s real intention was to supervise his friends in packing. He wanted to teach his friends how to pack. However, they misinterpreted him and as a result narrator had to do the packing.

वर्णनकर्ता अपने दोस्तों जॉर्ज और हैरिस के साथ यात्रा पर जा रहा था। उसने उनसे कहा कि वह पैकिंग करेगा। उन्होंने उसके प्रस्ताव को स्वीकार कर लिया और आराम करते हुए उसने बैग पैक किया।

वर्णनकर्ता का वास्तविक उद्देश्य पैकिंग में अपने मित्रों की देखरेख करना था। वह अपने दोस्तों को पैक करना सिखाना चाहता था। हालांकि, उन्होंने उसकी गलत व्याख्या की और परिणामस्वरूप वर्णनकर्ता को पैकिंग करनी पड़ी।

Haphazard Packing by the Narrator

The narrator started packing. It took him a bit longer than he had expected. He packed the bag but forgot to put the boots inside. So, he had to reopen the bag and put them in. He forgot whether he had put his toothbrush in the bag or not. So, he had to open the bag again and empty its contents. He put the contents back in the bag by shaking them one by one and found his toothbrush inside a boot. He had to reopen the bag once again as he had forgot his spectacles in the bag.

वर्णनकर्ता ने पैकिंग शुरू कर दी। उसकी अपेक्षा से थोड़ा अधिक समय लगा। उसने बैग पैक किया लेकिन जूते अंदर रखना भूल गया। इसलिए, उन्हें बैग को फिर से खोलना पड़ा और उन्हें अंदर रखना पड़ा। वह भूल गए कि उन्होंने अपना टूथब्रश बैग में रखा था या नहीं। इसलिए, उसे फिर से थैला खोलना पड़ा और उसमें से सामग्री खाली करनी पड़ी। उसने सामग्री को एक-एक करके बैग में वापस रख दिया और अपने टूथब्रश को एक बूट के अंदर पाया। उसे एक बार फिर बैग खोलना पड़ा क्योंकि वह बैग में अपना चश्मा भूल गया था।

George and Harris Do the rest of the Packing

George asked the narrator whether he had packed the soap or not. The narrator got extremely angry hearing this as he had already opened and packed the bag a few times. So, George and Harris took the task of completing the rest of the packing.

जॉर्ज ने वर्णनकर्ता से पूछा कि क्या उसने साबुन पैक किया है या नहीं। यह सुनकर वर्णनकर्ता को बहुत गुस्सा आया क्योंकि उसने पहले ही कई बार बैग खोलकर पैक कर दिया था। इसलिए, जॉर्ज और हैरिस ने बाकी पैकिंग को पूरा करने का काम लिया।

Situation Becomes Worse

George and Harris commit a lot of mistakes while packing. They broke cups, put things behind them and couldn’t find them when they needed them, packed heavy things on top of light things and stepped on things.

पैकिंग करते समय जॉर्ज और हैरिस बहुत सारी गलतियाँ करते हैं। उन्होंने प्याले तोड़े, चीजों को अपने पीछे रखा और जरूरत पड़ने पर उन्हें नहीं पा सके, भारी चीजों को हल्की चीजों के ऊपर पैक किया और चीजों पर कदम रखा।

Montmorency Joins the Packing

Montmorency (Narrator’s pet dog) came and sat down on things, put his leg into the jam and scattered the teaspoons. He went into the hamper and attacked three lemons thinking them to be rats. He was shooed away by Harris.

मोंटमोरेंसी (कथावाचक का पालतू कुत्ता) आया और चीजों पर बैठ गया, जाम में अपना पैर डाला और चम्मच बिखेर दिए। वह टोकरी में गया और तीन नींबूओं को चूहा समझकर उन पर हमला कर दिया। उसे हैरिस ने भगा दिया।

End of Packing

Finally, the packing ended late in the night at 12:50 AM. The three friends were very tired and decided to sleep. Before sleeping they had an argument about when to wake up in the morning.

आखिरकार देर रात 12:50 बजे पैकिंग खत्म हुई। तीनों दोस्त बहुत थके हुए थे और सोने का फैसला किया। सोने से पहले उनके बीच बहस हुई कि सुबह कब उठना है।

Conclusion of Packing

The chapter – Packing teaches students how packing can indeed be a tiring task if not done properly. Moreover, when done with friends, it may become a little messy and time-consuming but it has its own charm and fun.

अध्याय – पैकिंग छात्रों को सिखाता है कि कैसे पैकिंग वास्तव में एक थका देने वाला काम हो सकता है अगर ठीक से न किया जाए। इसके अलावा, जब दोस्तों के साथ किया जाता है, तो यह थोड़ा गन्दा और समय लेने वाला हो सकता है लेकिन इसका अपना आकर्षण और मजा है।
