Santosh’s Early Life

Santosh was born in a small village named Joniyawas of Rewari district in Haryana. In her village, birth of a girl child was not welcomed. Before her birth, a ‘holy man’ was about to give her mother the blessing of a son but her grandmother insisted that they wanted a daughter. Santosh is the only sister to her five brothers. Her family named her ‘Santosh’ as it means contentment which shows their happiness on her birth.

Santosh was not like the other village girls in her childhood. She wore shorts while other girls in her village wore traditional Indian dresses. At sixteen, most of the girls in her village used to get married, but she refused to get married and wanted to study.

संतोष का जन्म हरियाणा के रेवाड़ी जिले के जोनियावास नामक एक छोटे से गांव में हुआ था। उसके गाँव में, लड़की के जन्म का स्वागत नहीं किया जाता था। उसके जन्म से पहले, एक ‘पवित्र व्यक्ति’ उसकी माँ को एक बेटे का आशीर्वाद देने वाला था लेकिन उसकी दादी ने जोर देकर कहा कि वे एक बेटी चाहते हैं। संतोष अपने पांच भाइयों की इकलौती बहन है। उसके परिवार ने उसका नाम ‘संतोष’ रखा क्योंकि इसका अर्थ है संतोष जो उसके जन्म पर उनकी खुशी को दर्शाता है।

संतोष बचपन में गांव की दूसरी लड़कियों की तरह नहीं थी। उसने शॉर्ट्स पहनी थी जबकि उसके गाँव की अन्य लड़कियों ने पारंपरिक भारतीय पोशाक पहनी थी। सोलह साल की उम्र में उसके गांव की ज्यादातर लड़कियों की शादी हो जाती थी, लेकिन उसने शादी से इनकार कर दिया और पढ़ना चाहती थी।

Santosh’s Education

Despite being rich, her parents sent her to the village school. She decided to fight the system so she enrolled herself in a school in Delhi against her parents’ wishes. She went to Jaipur for higher studies after completing her schooling.

अमीर होने के बावजूद उसके माता-पिता ने उसे गांव के स्कूल में भेजा। उसने व्यवस्था से लड़ने का फैसला किया इसलिए उसने अपने माता-पिता की इच्छा के विरुद्ध दिल्ली के एक स्कूल में दाखिला लिया। स्कूली शिक्षा पूरी करने के बाद वह उच्च अध्ययन के लिए जयपुर चली गईं।

Santosh’s Dream of Mountaineering

As Santosh’s hostel room in Jaipur faced the Aravalli Hills, she used to watch people climbing the hill. She got curious and went to meet the mountaineers one day. She asked them if she could join them. They agreed and encouraged her to take mountaineering. She enrolled herself in a course at Uttarkashi’s Nehru Institute of Mountaineering and then she didn’t look back. She informed her parents about this and apologised to them for taking admission without their permission.

जयपुर में संतोष के छात्रावास के कमरे में अरावली पहाड़ियों का सामना करने के कारण, वह लोगों को पहाड़ी पर चढ़ते हुए देखती थी। वह उत्सुक हो गई और एक दिन पर्वतारोहियों से मिलने गई। उसने उनसे पूछा कि क्या वह उनके साथ शामिल हो सकती है। वे मान गए और उसे पर्वतारोहण करने के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया। उसने उत्तरकाशी के नेहरू पर्वतारोहण संस्थान में एक कोर्स में दाखिला लिया और फिर उसने पीछे मुड़कर नहीं देखा। उसने अपने माता-पिता को इस बारे में सूचित किया और उनकी अनुमति के बिना प्रवेश लेने के लिए उनसे माफी मांगी।

Santosh as Remarkable Climber

Santosh went for an expedition every year and developed a remarkable resistance to cold and the altitude. Her determination and strong will power helped her a lot. She had physical stamina and mental toughness which were most necessary for climbing.

संतोष हर साल एक अभियान के लिए जाते थे और ठंड और ऊंचाई के लिए एक उल्लेखनीय प्रतिरोध विकसित करते थे। उसके दृढ़ संकल्प और दृढ़ इच्छा शक्ति ने उसकी बहुत मदद की। उसके पास शारीरिक सहनशक्ति और मानसिक दृढ़ता थी जो चढ़ने के लिए सबसे आवश्यक थी।

Santosh’s Dream Comes True

Conquering Mt Everest is a dream that every climber wishes to fulfil. Santosh achieved this success in 1992 when she was only 20 years old. She became the youngest woman in the world to climb Mt Everest. Within a year, she scaled Mt Everest again and became the only woman mountaineer in the world to climb Mt Everest twice. She also saved the life of Mohan Singh who was her fellow climber.

माउंट एवरेस्ट फतह करना एक ऐसा सपना है जिसे हर पर्वतारोही पूरा करना चाहता है। संतोष ने यह सफलता 1992 में हासिल की थी जब वह केवल 20 साल की थीं। वह माउंट एवरेस्ट पर चढ़ने वाली दुनिया की सबसे कम उम्र की महिला बनीं। एक साल के भीतर, उन्होंने फिर से माउंट एवरेस्ट को फतह किया और दो बार माउंट एवरेस्ट पर चढ़ने वाली दुनिया की एकमात्र महिला पर्वतारोही बन गईं। उन्होंने मोहन सिंह की जान भी बचाई जो उनके साथी पर्वतारोही थे।

Santosh as True Environmentalist

Santosh shares her feeling of hoisting the national flag on the top of the world. She says that unfurling Indian tricolour on the Everest was a proud, spiritual and undescribable moment for her. She collected and brought down 500 kilograms of garbage from the Himalayas.

Honour by the Indian Government Santosh Yadav was honoured with one of the top awards, the Padmashri in recognition of her achievements, by the Government of India.

संतोष ने दुनिया के शीर्ष पर राष्ट्रीय ध्वज फहराने की अपनी भावना को साझा किया। वह कहती हैं कि एवरेस्ट पर भारतीय तिरंगा फहराना उनके लिए एक गौरवपूर्ण, आध्यात्मिक और अवर्णनीय क्षण था। उसने हिमालय से 500 किलोग्राम कचरा एकत्र किया और नीचे लाया।

भारत सरकार द्वारा सम्मान संतोष यादव को उनकी उपलब्धियों के सम्मान में भारत सरकार द्वारा शीर्ष पुरस्कारों में से एक पद्मश्री से सम्मानित किया गया।

Maria Sharapova Attains Top Position in World Tennis

Maria Sharapova, a teen sensation, attained the number one position in world women’s tennis on 22nd August, 2005. She took only four years to achieve her dream. The journey actually started nine years ago when she was sent to America for her formal training.

मारिया शारापोवा, एक किशोर सनसनी, ने 22 अगस्त, 2005 को विश्व महिला टेनिस में नंबर एक स्थान प्राप्त किया। उसे अपना सपना हासिल करने में केवल चार साल लगे। यात्रा वास्तव में नौ साल पहले शुरू हुई थी जब उन्हें औपचारिक प्रशिक्षण के लिए अमेरिका भेजा गया था।

Maria’s Training in America

Maria was born in Siberia, Russia but Maria’s father Yuri took her to America for training as a tennis professional. She was separated from her mother for almost two years when she was not even 10 years old. Her father earned as much as he could to keep her tennis training going.

मारिया का जन्म रूस के साइबेरिया में हुआ था लेकिन मारिया के पिता यूरी उन्हें टेनिस पेशेवर के रूप में प्रशिक्षण के लिए अमेरिका ले गए। करीब दो साल तक वह अपनी मां से अलग रहीं, जब वह 10 साल की भी नहीं थीं। उसके टेनिस प्रशिक्षण को जारी रखने के लिए उसके पिता जितना कमा सकते थे, कमाया।

Maria’s Tough Times Make her Strong

Maria felt lonely and missed her mother badly. The other athletes made her to tidy up the room and clean it. The tough time made her strong and determined. She also learnt how to take care of herself. Her motto was to work hard to fulfil her desires.

मारिया अकेलापन महसूस करती थी और अपनी माँ को बुरी तरह याद करती थी। अन्य एथलीटों ने उससे कमरे को साफ करने और साफ करने के लिए कहा। कठिन समय ने उसे मजबूत और दृढ़ बना दिया। उसने खुद की देखभाल करना भी सीखा। उसका मकसद अपनी इच्छाओं को पूरा करने के लिए कड़ी मेहनत करना था।

Maria as a True Patriot

Maria lives in America but she still calls herself a Russian. However, the United States is a big part of her life but at heart, she is a Russian. She dreams of playing Olympics for Russia if they allow her to play. It clearly shows that she is a true patriot.

मारिया अमेरिका में रहती हैं लेकिन वह अभी भी खुद को रूसी कहती हैं। हालाँकि, संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका उसके जीवन का एक बड़ा हिस्सा है लेकिन दिल से वह एक रूसी है। वह रूस के लिए ओलंपिक खेलने का सपना देखती है अगर वे उसे खेलने की अनुमति देते हैं। इससे साफ पता चलता है कि वह एक सच्ची देशभक्त हैं।

Hobbies and Interests of Maria

Maria’s hobbies are singing and dancing. She reads Arthur Conan Doyle’s novels. She has a great sense of fashion. She is fond of pancakes with chocolate and orange drinks.

She finds money as motivation but she dreams to become number one in the world and this dream keeps her going.

मारिया के शौक गायन और नृत्य कर रहे हैं। वह आर्थर कॉनन डॉयल के उपन्यास पढ़ती है। उसे फैशन की बहुत अच्छी समझ है। वह चॉकलेट और ऑरेंज ड्रिंक्स के साथ पेनकेक्स की शौकीन है।

वह पैसे को प्रेरणा के रूप में देखती है लेकिन वह दुनिया में नंबर एक बनने का सपना देखती है और यही सपना उसे जारी रखता है।
