Chapter 3, TWO STORIES ABOUT FLYING

Story- 1 “His First Flight” 

This story is about a family of seagulls. There was a young child in the family who was unable to fly even after several tries. The story highlights the importance of family and friends in one’s life. It also gives the message that one needs to believe in self to overcome all the hurdles of own life.

यह कहानी एक सीगल परिवार की है। परिवार में एक छोटा बच्चा था जो काफी कोशिशों के बाद भी उड़ने में असमर्थ था। कहानी किसी के जीवन में परिवार और दोस्तों के महत्व पर प्रकाश डालती है। यह यह संदेश भी देता है कि अपने जीवन की सभी बाधाओं को दूर करने के लिए स्वयं पर विश्वास करने की आवश्यकता है।

The Seagull Family

The seagull family consists of six seagulls-mother, father, three sons and one daughter. All of them except the youngest son are expert in flying high. His parents have tried several times to teach him how to fly but he is scared to do that and does not want to try anymore. He relies on the food that his parents bring back from their flights.

सीगल परिवार में छह सीगल-माता, पिता, तीन बेटे और एक बेटी शामिल हैं। सबसे छोटे बेटे को छोड़कर सभी ऊंची उड़ान भरने में माहिर हैं। उसके माता-पिता ने उसे उड़ना सिखाने की कई बार कोशिश की है लेकिन वह ऐसा करने से डरता है और अब और कोशिश नहीं करना चाहता। वह उस भोजन पर निर्भर है जो उसके माता-पिता अपनी उड़ानों से वापस लाते हैं।

Young Seagull’s Fear of Flying

The youngest son is afraid of flying as he thinks that if he flies, his wings would not support him and he would fall down in the sea below and drown. Even his parents have rebuked him. They even threatened him if he doesn’t fly, he would die of hunger, but he does not try.

सबसे छोटा बेटा उड़ने से डरता है क्योंकि वह सोचता है कि अगर वह उड़ गया तो उसके पंख उसका साथ नहीं देंगे और वह नीचे समुद्र में गिर जाएगा और डूब जाएगा। यहां तक कि उसके माता-पिता ने भी उसे डांटा है। उन्होंने उसे धमकी भी दी कि अगर उसने उड़ान नहीं भरी तो वह भूख से मर जाएगा, लेकिन उसने कोशिश नहीं की।

Parents Leave Young Seagull Alone

After so many failed attempts, his parents leave him alone on the rock without food. They even taunt him for his cowardice. The young seagull looks at his brothers and sister enjoying swimming, diving in the sea water for fish to feed themselves, but no one comes near him to offer food.

इतने असफल प्रयासों के बाद, उसके माता-पिता उसे बिना भोजन के चट्टान पर अकेला छोड़ देते हैं। वे उसकी कायरता के लिए ताने भी मारते हैं। युवा सीगल अपने भाइयों और बहन को तैरने का आनंद लेते हुए देखता है, मछलियों को खिलाने के लिए समुद्र के पानी में गोता लगाता है, लेकिन कोई भी उसके पास भोजन देने नहीं आता है।

Hunger and Heat Increase

As the time passes, the young seagull could not tolerate the hunger and the heat. He moves closer to the ledge and pretends to fall asleep but nobody takes notice of him.

His brothers and sister have already had hearty breakfast and father seems busy in admiring and cleaning the feathers on his back. The mother looks at him and tries to tempt him with pieces of fish. His begging and crying does not affect her.

जैसे-जैसे समय बीतता गया, युवा सीगल भूख और गर्मी बर्दाश्त नहीं कर सका। वह किनारे के करीब जाता है और सो जाने का नाटक करता है लेकिन किसी ने उसकी सुध नहीं ली।

उसके भाई-बहन पहले ही भरपेट नाश्ता कर चुके हैं और पिता उसकी पीठ पर लगे पंखों को निहारने और साफ करने में व्यस्त लगता है। माँ उसे देखती है और मछली के टुकड़ों से उसे लुभाने की कोशिश करती है। उसके गिड़गिड़ाने और रोने का उस पर कोई असर नहीं पड़ता।

Young Seagull Dives for Food

The young seagull was very hungry. He was surprised enough at his mother’s ignorance of his pitiful condition. Thus, he dives for food. He begins to fall down with a scream as soon as he dives.

युवा सीगल बहुत भूखा था। अपनी दयनीय स्थिति के बारे में अपनी माँ की अनभिज्ञता पर उन्हें काफी आश्चर्य हुआ। इस प्रकार, वह भोजन के लिए गोता लगाता है। गोता लगाते ही वह चीख के साथ नीचे गिरने लगता है।

Flight Begins

The young seagull begins to fall in the sea. He is afraid of drowning, so he tries to spread his wings outwards and begins flying. He feels a little dizzy but all his fear vanished (disappeared). He soars slowly downwards and upwards. He could finally fly on his own.

युवा सीगल समुद्र में गिरने लगती है। वह डूबने से डरता है, इसलिए वह अपने पंख बाहर की ओर फैलाने की कोशिश करता है और उड़ने लगता है। उसे थोड़ा चक्कर आता है लेकिन उसका सारा डर गायब (गायब) हो जाता है। वह धीरे-धीरे नीचे और ऊपर की ओर चढ़ता है। आखिरकार वह अपने दम पर उड़ सका।

Joy of Flight and Reunion of Family

The seagull becomes so happy and soars higher calling ‘ga, ga, ga’. It was really a joyous moment for the whole family; his brothers and sister along with his parents come near to encourage and cheer him. The young seagull successfully made his first flight.

सीगल बहुत खुश हो जाती है और ‘गा, गा, गा’ कहकर ऊंची उड़ान भरती है। यह वास्तव में पूरे परिवार के लिए एक खुशी का पल था; उसके भाई और बहन उसके माता-पिता के साथ उसे प्रोत्साहित करने और खुश करने के लिए पास आते हैं। युवा सीगल ने सफलतापूर्वक अपनी पहली उड़ान भरी।

 Story- 2 “The Black Aeroplane”

The Trip to England

The narrator was flying his aeroplane at night over France to England. He was eager to meet his family. He was dreaming of his holiday. The stars were shining in the clear sky. Even the city-Paris could be seen down below. He called Paris Control to get instructed about the way. He was instructed to turn 12 degrees West.

वर्णनकर्ता अपना हवाई जहाज रात में फ़्रांस से इंग्लैंड के लिए उड़ा रहा था। वह अपने परिवार से मिलने को बेताब था। वह अपनी छुट्टी का सपना देख रहा था। साफ आसमान में तारे चमक रहे थे। यहां तक कि शहर-पेरिस को भी नीचे देखा जा सकता था। उन्होंने रास्ते के बारे में निर्देश प्राप्त करने के लिए पेरिस कंट्रोल को फोन किया। उसे 12 डिग्री पश्चिम की ओर मुड़ने का निर्देश दिया गया था।

Fear of Storm

Everything was going well before he saw the storm clouds and Paris was about 150 kilometres behind him. It was natural for the narrator to panic. He knew that it was not possible to fly up and over those storm clouds. He was confused for a moment.

सब कुछ ठीक चल रहा था कि तभी उसने तूफानी बादलों को देखा और पेरिस उससे करीब 150 किलोमीटर पीछे था। कथावाचक का घबराना स्वाभाविक था। वह जानता था कि उड़ना और उन तूफानी बादलों के ऊपर से उड़ना संभव नहीं था। वह एक पल के लिए असमंजस में पड़ गया।

A Risky but Brave Decision of the Author

As everything was fearful at the moment, the narrator decided to risk and flew into the storm, but everything went out of control. The compass as well as other instruments stopped working. He was unable to see outside the plane as the plane was jumping and twisting in the air. He tried to contact Paris Control but couldn’t. He was lost in the storm.

जैसा कि उस समय सब कुछ भयभीत था, वर्णनकर्ता ने जोखिम उठाने का फैसला किया और तूफान में उड़ गया, लेकिन सब कुछ नियंत्रण से बाहर हो गया। कम्पास और अन्य उपकरणों ने काम करना बंद कर दिया। वह विमान के बाहर देखने में असमर्थ था क्योंकि विमान उछल रहा था और हवा में घूम रहा था। उसने पेरिस कंट्रोल से संपर्क करने की कोशिश की लेकिन नहीं हो सका। वह तूफान में खो गया था।

A Black Aeroplane Appeared

Suddenly, the narrator saw another black aeroplane in the storm by his side without lights on its wings. It seemed strange to him but he was glad to see another person in the storm.

The pilot of another plane waved at him and signalled to follow so he did that because he did not have other option except it.

अचानक, वर्णनकर्ता ने तूफान में एक और काला हवाई जहाज देखा, जिसके पंखों पर रोशनी नहीं थी। यह उसे अजीब लग रहा था लेकिन तूफान में किसी और को देखकर वह खुश था।

दूसरे विमान के पायलट ने उन्हें हाथ हिलाया और पीछे चलने का इशारा किया तो उन्होंने ऐसा इसलिए किया क्योंकि उनके पास इसके अलावा कोई दूसरा विकल्प नहीं था।

A Safe Landing

The narrator flew for half an hour which was quite strange to him as he had fuel only for five or ten minutes. He felt fearful but suddenly he saw two bright lines in front of him. It was a runway. He was able to land safely which gave him a sigh of relief. It was just like a miracle for him.

वर्णनकर्ता आधे घंटे तक उड़ता रहा जो उसके लिए काफी अजीब था क्योंकि उसके पास केवल पाँच या दस मिनट के लिए ही ईंधन था। उसे डर लग रहा था लेकिन अचानक उसने अपने सामने दो चमकीली रेखाएं देखीं। यह एक रनवे था। वह सुरक्षित उतरने में सफल रहे जिससे उन्होंने राहत की सांस ली। यह उनके लिए किसी चमत्कार जैसा ही था।

The Greatest Surprise

The narrator came out from his plane to thank the pilot of the black aeroplane but he was shocked to see no one there. He went to Control Tower and asked the woman about the place and the black aeroplane. Hearing his words the woman laughed and said that there was no other aeroplane except his. It was a big surprise to the narrator. He was dumb founded as he had no explanation for the miracle.

वर्णनकर्ता काले हवाई जहाज के पायलट को धन्यवाद देने के लिए अपने विमान से बाहर आया लेकिन वह वहां किसी को नहीं देखकर चौंक गया। वह कंट्रोल टॉवर पर गया और महिला से जगह और काले हवाई जहाज के बारे में पूछा। उसकी बातें सुनकर वह स्त्री हंस पड़ी और बोली कि उसके सिवाय और कोई हवाई जहाज नहीं है। वर्णनकर्ता के लिए यह एक बड़ा आश्चर्य था। वह गूंगा था क्योंकि उसके पास चमत्कार के लिए कोई स्पष्टीकरण नहीं था।

Conclusion of Two Stories About Flying

In the chapter – Two Stories About Flying, there are two stories that teach us that inner strength and determination is necessary to overcome fear. Having the courage to face tough situations helps us to overcome complex situations in our lives.

अध्याय – उड़ान के बारे में दो कहानियाँ, दो कहानियाँ हैं जो हमें सिखाती हैं कि डर पर काबू पाने के लिए आंतरिक शक्ति और दृढ़ संकल्प आवश्यक है। कठिन परिस्थितियों का सामना करने का साहस हमें अपने जीवन में जटिल परिस्थितियों से उबरने में मदद करता है।
