Central Idea:-

This poem conveys the idea that almost all married women spend all their lives doing household chores from morning till evening – producing children and bringing them up with loving care, putting up with all the bullying of their husbands, and then at last passing into their graves with no regard from anyone.

यह कविता इस विचार को व्यक्त करती है कि लगभग सभी विवाहित महिलाएं अपना सारा जीवन सुबह से शाम तक घर के कामों में बिताती हैं – बच्चे पैदा करती हैं और प्यार से उनका पालन-पोषण करती हैं, अपने पतियों की सभी धमकियों को सहती हैं, और फिर अंत में उनकी कब्रों में चली जाती हैं। बिना किसी की परवाह किए।

Brief Summary (Highlighted):-

Aunt Jennifer is embroidering tigers in wool. The tigers are prancing across the screen. They look bright yellow in the midst of green trees. There is some man beneath the tree. The Tigers are not afraid of this man. The tigers are pacing across the screen in graceful chivalry. Jennifer’s fingers are fluttering through the wool. She finds it hard to pull out the Ivory needle. She feels as if her hand failed to work under her uncle’s pressure. She can do nothing without the command. The poet imagines that when Aunt Jennifer dies, her terrified hands will still be ringed with her usual chores. The Tigers in the panel will proudly prance across the screen while Aunt Jennifer would be lying lifeless in her grave.

आंटी जेनिफर ऊन में बाघों की कढ़ाई कर रही हैं। बाघ स्क्रीन पर नृत्य कर रहे हैं। वे हरे पेड़ों के बीच चमकीले पीले रंग के दिखते हैं। पेड़ के नीचे कोई आदमी है। बाघ इस आदमी से नहीं डरते। बाघ स्क्रीन पर सुंदर शिष्टता में घूम रहे हैं। जेनिफर की उंगलियां ऊन से फड़फड़ा रही हैं। उसे आइवरी सुई को बाहर निकालना मुश्किल लगता है। उसे ऐसा लगता है जैसे उसका हाथ उसके चाचा के दबाव में काम नहीं कर रहा है। बिना आज्ञा के वह कुछ नहीं कर सकती। कवि कल्पना करता है कि जब आंटी जेनिफर की मृत्यु होगी, तब भी उसके डरे हुए हाथ उसके सामान्य कामों में लगे रहेंगे। पैनल में टाइगर्स स्क्रीन पर गर्व से झूमेंगे जबकि आंटी जेनिफर अपनी कब्र में बेजान पड़ी होंगी।
